Validate representative tasks end to end in the agreed environment. Review output quality, failure handling, human takeover and documentation. Track time, manual corrections or task completion against project goals, evaluating model quality separately from engineering usability.
Scope of collaboration
Start with a focused validation project and expand based on results. Agree deliverables, timing, fees, data permissions and deployment responsibilities before work begins. Third-party services, compute, ongoing operations and additional scope are agreed separately.

What does FDE mean for our collaboration?
Forward Deployed Engineering emphasizes understanding your workflow, defining the problem together and following through from development to deployment. Meeting cadence, remote or on-site work and responsibilities are agreed for each project.
Can we start without an existing model?
Yes. We begin with the problem and available materials, then assess existing models, rules or automation tools. Research reproduction or model training requires a separate feasibility and scope discussion.
Do you work with businesses as well as research teams?
Yes. We can discuss knowledge retrieval, document processing, tool integration and purpose-built software, starting with workflow, data access and acceptance criteria.
Can we deploy on our own infrastructure, and who maintains it?
We can assess your own servers or a cloud environment, including hardware, network and access constraints. Documentation and handover are agreed as part of delivery; ongoing maintenance and iteration are scoped explicitly.
